Anyone willing to help my daughter with DNA science project?

You’re good, just my chemistry brain. Thanks for the clarification.

@Jordan finally got to put his expertise to work!

Exactly, I spent the day teaching entropy, electrochemistry, and magnetism (3 different classes) so my brain is simultaneously fried and on “high alert”

Sound like fun classes though!

Fascinating history, @cwhenderson!

The blessing and curse of a (very) small department. I’ve taught ~ 20 different classes covering forensics, chemistry, physics, and earth science since I got here. I never get bored, but I do feel like my teaching is a mile wide and an inch deep a lot of the time. So far no one has asked me to teach genetics though

I get that feeling quite a bit, as well! But at least all the classes I’ve taught have actually been comfortably within my discipline.

She chilled the alcohol in the fridge. So cool but not cold. I’m curious why it matters?

It probably won’t have a dramatic effect, but the temperature difference simply helps keep the aqueous strawberry extract phase and alcohol phase distinct. This could make the precipitate line a little tighter, but that’s about it.
