> In The Genealogical Adam and Eve: The Surprising Science of Universal Ancestry S. Joshua Swamidass presents a new hypothesis in the creation/evolution debate: the genealogical hypothesis. Swamidass…

> What makes Swamidass’s hypothesis so interesting is that it combines a rather literal reading of the Genesis account with mainstream evolutionary science. Prior to this hypothesis being suggested, Christians usually took one of two approaches. The first approach, taken by young-earth creationists and old-earth creationists, read Genesis rather literally and rejected aspects of mainstream evolutionary theory. The second approach, taken by evolutionary creationists, read Genesis in a rather non-literal or non-historical way and accepted mainstream evolutionary theory. The genealogical hypothesis provides a middle ground between the two approaches. After all these years it is quite the accomplishment to propose a new hypothesis.
