There is a lot of nonsense math out there. E=MC2 is an example of nonsense math. Energy in Joules = mass in KG x Speed of light x Speed of light.
As soon as you choose Meters rather than feet mix that up with mass it becomes nonsense. It would be good math if it said. Energy in Joules = Mass x 900,000,000. then there is no meters involved. It had nothing to do with light. It had to do with some guy working out what a Joule was to make the equation work.

Light is not a wave. there is no such thing as a wave. A scope plots moments in time and the energy at that time. When you join all the points you will get a wave looking graph. It does not mean electricity OR Light is a wave. it means what is in front of you at that moment contains x amount of entropy.

I can’t help myself, though I try to resist. Do you know the definition of “joule”? Should the units (time, mass, distance) balance in an equation? If you defined velocity in terms of furlongs per fortnight, could you come up with a corresponding unit of energy?
Sure it was a good one. You end up knowing simply by realizing its not normal for this to be happening…
For Example:
back 35 years ago or so… I was in Toronto and a friend who was a girl was being beaten up by her husband… they separated and she then thought almost 2 years later that it best she get back together with him. Anyways I was at work when she stopped by, she left a note. So I tried to call her… I could get her at her mothers or her sisters.
So I Prayed.
I got on the subway with no answer it felt dead. You know the voice you hear that says go check your stove before you leave the house… its not even a voice its a thought. In that same space God can put a thought in there. And you have to decide if you act on it. So its just a random thought… And that is generally where special revelation comes from. Follow the threat and explain how you can prove the use of Meters for the speed of light is a legit use of those units rather than just the number squared.

Well, the specific unit used is not crucial. As @John_Harshman pointed out, furlongs would work just as well.
But, IIRC, the reason the speed of light is used in the famous E=mc^2 is that this equation only applies to objects at rest, and there are other, less well-known equations that apply to objects in motion and which include velocity as an element, which is proportionately related to the speed of light.
IOW, c is not just a random, great big number used to emphasize that a lot of energy is contained in a small amount of mass. Energy is also affected by the velocity of an object in proportion to the speed of light.
That’s how I remember it, anyway.
Well, sure its a measurement “at rest” generally considering that a mass traveling on its own contains the energy in that motion to add to the energy in that atom. Its why a meteor could have a impact larger than what you would expect because there is energy in relation to the mass and the motion.
But that is not the issue… Why is is the speed of light in meters worked out playing with both sides of the equation so it works important.
Is there a coincidence there where energy was figured out in Joules and then Oh look if you took the square of light (times) mass the numbers add up. Sorry… I don’t think so.

I’m pretty sure that would not happen if one uses Imperial units on the right side of the equation. Just a guess.
Furlongs per fortnight! My favorite unit of speed. This came up in another thread some time ago, and Scott had the same issue. It’s really very simple. Units of things like speed and force and energy have other units embedded in their definitions: feet per second, furlongs per fortnight, whatever. If you define energy in terms of how many stone can be lifted how many fathoms against how much resistance, you’d better make sure that your terms for speed and mass are defined in terms of the same basic units as your term for energy.
