There’s a new paper out on the “Grammar of protein domain architectures”, all about drawing a linguistic analogy to protein domains and quantifying the entropy of the architectures. It was co-authored by Eugene Koonin, which is how I heard about it in the first place (email notification). I haven’t gone through it in much detail, but it seems like it would be of interest to some people here:
