How many American "Theists" could be potential donors to PeacefulScience?

This data is 5 or 6 years old, but it certainly provides a general sense of
the demographics:

A significant percentage of Christians in the United States support evolution, including:

  • White mainline Protestants
80% of white mainline Protestants believe in evolution, and 71% of them believe humans and other living things have evolved over time.

  • Catholics
73% of white Catholics believe humans and other living things have evolved over time. A survey of Catholic adults found that 65% of those who attended a Catholic high school believed in evolution.

  • Churches that support evolution education
At least 77% of Americans in the twelve largest Christian denominations belong to churches that support evolution education.

However, views on evolution vary by religious group and party affiliation:

  • White evangelical Protestants
68% of white evangelical Protestants believe in widespread scientific consensus on evolution, but 64% of them believe humans have existed in their present form since the beginning of time.

  • Black Protestants
44% of black Protestants believe in widespread scientific consensus on evolution, but 50% of them believe humans have existed in their present form since the beginning of time.

  • Republicans
43% of Republicans believe humans have evolved over time, while 67% of Democrats believe humans have evolved over time.

As you can see, every time atheist evolutionists argue against God’s
engaging in evolutionary history, is just another day when potential
donors to this site are turned off by this kind of pro-evolution discussion.

It is important to make a place for Christian evolutionists, MILLIONS of THEM, to feel welcome and understood.

George,
This is the latest Gallop poll on views on the origin and development of human beings.

That’s nice, but you have provided no reason to suppose that the presence of atheists on this site puts off anyone except creationists and IDers, if that.

As a scientist and Christian, it appears to me that the survey is ridiculous, since I don’t believe in evolution, I accept it. There’s zero belief involved. If someone presented evidence contradicting evolutionary theory, I would examine it and change my acceptance accordingly.

This common misunderstanding is also reflected in your use of the offensive term “evolutionist.”
