At this time, I am going to invite Dr. David Menton from AIG to participate in discussing this article with us. This invitation is most likely to be ignored. If, however, he does join us here, the rules will immediately change on this thread. It will become tightly regulated and no disrespect or unkindness directed at Dr. Menton will be tolerated at all. Period.
At _ **Peaceful Science** _ we aim for honest exchanges, where positions can be understood and honestly criticized. This is not possible in hostile contexts where personal attacks are allowed. I expect everyone will work hard to serve these goals.

Well, I went to look only to find that the seminary affiliated with the same denomination as the university I teach at ( and is less than 20 miles away) is already on the list. Are there ways that scientists can be of help?

Ok, How’s this: Are agnostics really just 99.99% atheist who are afraid to come out as atheists? Are agnostics really agnostic about Zeus, Apollo and Thor?

That’s right! Wishy-washy fence-sitters afraid to jump in with both feet! 😄
And hey, did you hear about the big agnostics protest rally? They marched down the street with signs reading, “We Don’t Know!” 😆
And there was some argument about agnosticism being more intellectually honest than atheism, but I forgot how it goes … Label me Agnostic-Apathist!
Better yet. Look up PZ Myers essay on Dictionary Atheism. That’s what really put it perspective for me.

I’m not afraid of that. I’ve been called “atheist” and I expect that will happen again.
It’s just that people tend to associate “atheist” with the Richard Dawkins (“The God Delusion”) style of atheism, and that’s not me. So “agnostic” better communicates who I am.

I’m agnostic about the broad idea of a God. But once you get into specifics …
Actually, “apatheist” is a better term, but it does not have wide currency in the population at large.
