This same Gospel echoes through thousands of years of Jewish and Christian thought and experience.

Much of this was inspired by reading this article several years ago.
This is excellent.
The Gospel does not need to be made new. The Gospel makes new.
Jesus, the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. We trust in this.
So what is “the gospel”?

I’ll let @Mlkluther and other’s chime in, but I’ve found the statements of the gospel below useful:
- Scot McNight in his book The King Jesus Gospel says: "The gospel is to announce that the Story of Jesus, who is Messiah/King, Lord and Savior, fulfills or completes the Story of Israel. It is the good news that God’s promises have now been realized in Jesus Messiah, Lord and Savior. "
- And the Bible itself in 1 Corinthians 15:3-6 - “I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.”
That may seem like gibberish if you aren’t somewhat aquatinted with the “Story of Israel” as McNight puts it, but it makes a lot sense to me.
