FYI, I’m under the impression that this won’t happen.
@art by the way, that is an excellent find. I had not been able to find a reference to that claim in the literature. So great job on that. There are no references in the original paper. When I asked Dennis for a reference he provided one that did not make this claim.
It is worth remember, however, that this was presented as evidence against more recent bottlenecks. I do think that is wrongheaded, as you have explained. However, that is still a claim floating out there uncorrected.
Perhaps. That’s his choice.
I’m still not convinced that SFS is a valid way to rule out a bottleneck.
Why must @glipsnort address it? He stated that the frequency and number of rare variants alone ruled out a bottleneck of 2 for the past 500,000 which more than falsifies the claim that the human population sprang from a bottleneck of 2 in the last 10,000 years. Why would he need to include other evidence that pushes the dates back farther when he has already disproven the 10,000 year date?
What does @glipsnort mean by “the evidence”? He means the frequency and number of rare variants. That’s it. As far as I can see, @glipsnort is correct when he says that this specific evidence alone can not rule out a bottleneck of 2 farther back than 500,000 years.
I have had some recent communication with @glipsnort, and he told me he is not going to respond to these types of threads.
On that same note, my posts are my own. I am not relaying any arguments or info on @glipsnort’s behalf.
That is his choice.
So I will close that thread, and open it if he asks in the future.
I am not really sure what he means by “these types” of threads. What is he actually is he willing to discuss? Why are certain topics forbidden?

I am not really sure what he means by “these types” of threads.
“These types” would be threads commenting on the article “What Genetic Science Says About Adam and Eve”. I was also informed that he has other real life issues that need his full attention, so his presence is going to be limited overall. I will leave it up to @glipsnort to explain the why. I am only passing this on so you don’t halt discussion for a comment that is not coming.
If I may speculate, he may mean threads in which he is asked to defend claims he didn’t make and confront data irrelevant to claims he did make.
Well, he could easily clarified those are not his claims.
Honestly seems like a double standard. My work is put on the spot all the time.
What ever the case, we will pick this up another time if there is reason to do so. For now, seem like its on pause. Maybe permanently.
