And much evidence to suggest that the first 36 chapters was edited (by Moses) from a series of tablets compiled by many of the patriarchs of the Bible. The phrase “these are the generations of” was a phrase used to title accounts on clay tablets back in the Mesopotamia during the time of Abraham. They brought their history with them.
