An important question for this forum is how you identify any particular flood with the Noah story. To what extent can we credit any aspect of the story? There have been big floods in various places throughout history, but how can any of them be attached to this particular story, which is clearly almost entirely if not quite entirely fictional?

Strong points have been raised here by questioning the possible identification of a particular flood event and its relevance to Noah flood. Indeed there are lots of spectacular flood events for example, the well -addressed high stand levels gained by the equatorial lakes in Africa following the return of strong monsoon after the last glacial maximum. Although,in the investigated flooding basins in Yemen and Saudi Arabia the amount of poured rainfall are far beyond imagination, as the troughs in-between the mountain ranges ( covers hundred of thousands of square kms)were overtopped at several distant outlets. Usually any single basin dishchrsge it’s water at the low/est point. The Arabia basins are covered by extensive lakebed deposits and breached the mountain ranges at several canyons at different levels. So there must be an abrupt flooding that formed a huge lake that was so enormous to cut the rimming boundaries through number of huge canyons. Of course more evidences are still needed to verify the hypothesis and these discussions will enhance our approaches
