Referring to YECs as Dr

Good point. Correlation of discontinuous strata is based on index fossils and radiometric dating, both of which creationists commonly reject. “Cretaceous” and “Jurassic” can mean nothing to them beyond their superposition in a single locality or, at most, localities linked by continuous strata. I’m not sure they would accept seismic or lithologic stratigraphy either, so maybe even the linkage criterion wouldn’t work for them.

So much for the idea of going to the source…

Oddly on topic, my standard in a professional setting is to use a person’s title once at the beginning of a meeting, introduction, or first mention. This applies in the professional setting no matter how well I may know them personally.
After that first time, first names are fair game, unless there are other reasons to use titles (eg: MD’s in a medical/clinical setting).

On the Internet it may not be clear when a professional standard should apply. I might use a title when am asking for a professional opinion in their area of expertise.

Ah, that brings back memories. When I started work at 18 at the New Zealand Department of Scientific and Industrial Research PhDs were pretty universal among the older senior scientists and not usually mentioned. Even very young and junior technical staff such as myself were allowed to address them by their first name. Once there was one notable exception, a young brash scientist joined us who was very proud of his brand new PhD and insisted on being addressed as Dr so-and so. One day a letter arrived for him in our internal mail system addressed to him by name only. He angrily returned it to the mail service saying that if the sender couldn’t be bothered correctly addressing him as Dr then he wasn’t going to read it. I never heard what exactly the Director of Chemistry Division’s reaction was when his letter was returned to him, but the other details of the story spread like wildfire through the cafeteria and the individual in question was noticeably more subdued from that point on.
