I don’t get it? What is the point of that figure?

Tomkins was claiming that there is a lack of gene synteny in the “neighborhood” of VTG1/VTG1 pseudogene between human and chicken. @evograd’s figure shows that this is clearly not the case.

Got it. Someone should briefly explain what synteny is and pull the key quote from thomkins. This would be helpful for observers.

@evograd, Thanks for the analysis. It’s a perfect example of cargo cult science, in which all the figures are there purely to be sciencey and visually impressive, like an actor who wears a white lab coat in an antacid commercial.
