Access to Peaceful Science Forum

I have not come to the forum for a while because most times I try to access this forum the connection times out or says a connection cannot be made. Once and a while I would get through. This week I realized that when I try to access the forum from my office on campus it will not connect but it’s fine on the same computer at home. Looking back I think this has probably been the case for over a year. I have two laptops and today I tried with both of them at home and at work and the difference held for both despite one being my personal computer though I was using the university wifi routers to try to connect. Has anyone experienced connectivity issues? I have not encountered this difference between home and work with any other website. If it is just me, I can deal with it but I wonder if it causing issues with others and potentially dissuading some from participating.

My university’s network blocks Peaceful Science. I accept that some security protocol somewhere does not agree with some aspect of the ways Peaceful Science is disseminated.

Home connection only. Never a problem. Maybe IT can white list the site.

I would suggest contacting the university IT folks and see if they know why PS is (mostly?) blocked. Perhaps they can be talked out of it

I can’t get here from work, only from home. Something to do with the site scripting causing it to be blocked.

(It’s not a work-related site, or I could get it unblocked)

Is this problem specific to the forum (and therefore to Discourse) or do workplaces restrict access to PS overall? Do people see the same problems with access to BioLogos? Their forum is also based on Discourse. Just curiosity questions.

I couldn’t access PS when I worked at Copenhagen University Hospital, and I can’t access it from my current place of work either. I doubt someone went to the length of manually adding it to some sort of block list or that it was reported. It has something to do with the site itself.

I can access many other discourse-related forums.

Biologos is accessible, so it’s probably a PS-specific setting.

That doesn’t necessarily follow. Biologos could have been whitelisted. That seems more likely than a Peaceful Science being explicitly put on an a blacklist.

PS was accessible for a while, but became blocked at some point with a warning about scripting.

I would have responded earlier but I’ve been in my office at the University all day and I can’t access this site. So, this is interesting. I I have not had a problem at my University with accessing any other sites. Biologos forum works fine for me. It does appear there is something about this site that is causing some red flag to be raised. I think this would be worth trying to fix given how many of us are having a problem. It very much effects the likelihood of my participating on this forum.
