American Majority accepts God-Guided Evolution - - Is this true for BioLogos as well?

Maybe, but plenty of people now use the term without ever reading Lamoureux‘s work.

@Patrick:
Now THAT was funny… (and incorrect… but definitely funny).

Yes, but it is also still true.

EC, ironically, has acquired a great deal of baggage, and is even regarded with more disdain than TE by some people.

Maybe, but it is by far the most common description given in my context for someone not YEC or OEC.

I don’t doubt this. I also would venture that it is often being used pejoratively.

By whatever name you want to give it YEC, OEC, TE, EC, ID They are all creationism and have NOTHING to do with evolutionary science.

That is not true. Some of them REJECT evolutionary science, and some of them AFFIRM evolutionary science. They certainly have “things to do” with evolution.

In my context, not really. TE is seen more perjoratively (it’s seen as deistic), EC is the (relatively) “safe” way to to affirm evolutionary science.

Although, to your point, negative views of evolution are still plentiful. However, the term “Evolutionary Creation” seems to be the more generally accepted way to affirm both orthodox Christian faith and evolutionary science. It is weird given Lamoureux’s view on historical Adam and Eve which is much more of a line in the sand here.

Evolutionary science is the quest for truth about nature. Sure Christians are welcome to contribute to its exploration like @swamidass, and Francis Collins does on a daily basis. But if Christians can’t keep their beliefs out of the quest for truth in scientific inquiry, well they should not get to be taken seriously.
It seems like the real trolls in the discussion of evolutionary science are the various Christian who can’t keep science neutral.

If we look at the overall numbers –

US ADULTS… 18% rejects Evolution, and 48% rejects Godless Evolution, that means 56% of US adults have a role for God in their universe.

When the Extremists of Creationism are finally gone, I think the Godless-Evolutionists are going to be the ones who will face ongoing attrition.

In other words, 100 years from now, I predict the following:

US ADULTS:
4% clinging to de novo creation (Creationists/Reject any form of Evolution).
76% God-Guided Evolution of many flavors (Various denominations and unaffiliated)
20% Evolution without any God or Greater Power involved.

20% would be an attrition of the current figure of 33% who adhere to purely natural forms of evolution.

Science yes, evolutionary science though is a particular field of biology based on a very successful model/theory.

And that’s exactly what 90+% of Christian scientists do.

Those aren’t miracles. They are just positive lifestyle changes. In other words, you grew up and took responsibility for your own life.

Yes, and the other 10% work for DI, RTB, Biologos, and AiG.

wishful thinking. the Nones are going to exceed 50% once enough Baby Bomber die out. Look at Europe, Austrialia, Canada as being about a decade ahead of the US.

Atheists only make sense now because of how little sense the extremist religious zealots make.

Get rid of the extremes… and the middle ground will swell happily and reasonably…

Hopefully in the next election.

You were supposed to provide the natural causes, not dismiss them out of hand as not miracles. How did you determine they were not miracles using the scientific method?

A rather empty promise, if you can simply dismiss any thing you like as not a miracle and thus as not deserving of a natural cause explanation.

The scientific method is not required. This is more about 2019 human reasoning. You are a person of these times, culture, and society. You got a wonderful life ahead of you. Just accept the past as what was and move forward.

  1. Your conversion was just a change in thinking about how you wanted to live your life. It was more of a realization that you really wanted to change your life. No spirit entered you, you just felt relieved that you could start over and forget your past.

  2. Stopping being a thief is another lifestyle change that you came to realize that crime doesn’t pay. If you continued you knew that you eventually would be caught and perhaps go to prison or you could be killed while being a thief.

  3. Regarding your claim to have a porn addiction. Are you sure that it is an addiction? It may be a harmless obsession like obsessive video gaming. Not very productive use of one’s free time and not very helpful if you want to have a relationship with another person but nothing wrong or deviant about it.

So changing your thinking and changing what you did with your life was no miracle AND didn’t need a God or Spirit to accomplish. You can chose to have a good productive and meaningful life without any God. Try being a good person without any Gods for a day. It might give you more purpose and the realization that this life is all we have and stop wasting it.

How about sources, big dawg?

How did you determine, scientifically, that there is no such thing as porn addiction?

Whether it is harmless or not, whether it is productive or not, and whether it is wrong or deviant are irrelevant. What is relevant is whether or not porn can be an addiction. You deny it can be. We should take your word for all this because you are a qualified scientist?
