I don’t know what statistics they came up with or if they were able to realistically determine the proportion of rescuers who professed to be Christians and those who did not. However, someone asked one of the researchers, If you were a Jew in Hitler’s Germany looking for someone to hide you and you had the choice of asking a normal person on the street, a nun or a priest, and someone you knew to be a closet Communist, who would you ask? Without hesitation he answered, the nun or priest.

In Nazi Germany, Jews were at great risk from Christians. The churches were overwhelmingly in support of the Nazis. The last time I raised the appalling track record of Christians in Nazi Germany, virtually no Christian here would even touch the discussion, and the few weak attempts to change the subject to something else only demonstrated their discomfort with the facts.
