I was thinking about how to answer this, then life got busy. Looking at the discussion I think it’s hard to improve on the verse posted by Daniel @dga471 from Job Job 2:20-21.
Whether good or bad, we don’t really know the answer, but we trust in the the the decisions of a God who is perfect, omniscient and the definition of love.
Just like I’m not sure we’ll ever know exactly how God participated in creation, I see no way to say why specific good or bad things happen.
