Becerra was instrumental in getting Congress to pass legislation FINALLY authorizing Medicare to negotiate with drug companies on price. The original Part D, passed under Bush the second, prevented Medicare from forcing US drug companies to negotiate reasonable prices. As a result, even life saving drugs as basic as insulin and epinephrine were being sold to Medicare for outrageous prices. I distinctly remember one report from the Rand Corp that showed NovoLog selling single doses of insulin for $98. The very same drug in Canada and Europe was going for for $12 a dose. That accomplishment alone, by Becerra showed his chops at HHS.

Trump’s HHS executive order is pablum, makes for great sound bites but does absolutely nothing to advance affordable healthcare in the USA…
