Marcus Ross presented a paper critiquing the GAE at ETS this past November. I was there, and so was @swamidass . Josh offered some comments during the Q&A, but I was wondering if there’s any more extensive response to Ross, either here or somewhere else. Ross’ criticisms include: certain aspects of the GAE are not falsifiable, the GAE has never been explicitly simulated and the models Josh appeals to are for significantly different scenarios, and the GAE under realistic assumptions is incompatible with a YEC timeline (Josh claims it is). I finally sat down and actually read the whole paper this morning, and was wondering what everyone’s thoughts were.
