Explain what you mean by this. How should we go about demonstrating this? What do we have to do to meet that burden? Tell us.
Build a model of DNA modifications that can build the system by selection or drift or any other mechanism. Dawkins weasel was a first model that tried to model cumulative selection building a protein using the English language to simulate this. You can play with the software here…https://www.evoinfo.org/
Some of the ID guys set them selves up with this burden.
We all agree on simple adaptive change.
What is the mechanism(s) behind “adaptive change” and what boundaries prevent those changes from explaining Common Descent? What is at work here which evolutionary biologists are missing?
Genetic recombination, immune system response etc. Common descent is copying and recombination of DNA. We don’t have evidence that this process innovates or how it would. How do I get a flight feather from this process that requires the precise transcription of 100 novel keratin proteins and anywhere from 3000 to 100000 bits of new FI depending on whose numbers you use.
How do you explain the fact that scientists publish such evidence in peer-reviewed journals on a daily basis? Are they self-deceived? Dishonest? Confused? What do you believe accounts for this publishing phenomena and that so many would be affirming the same message?
Have you read the scientific literature on this question?
Heh. Now Bill not only forgets about selection feedback, he also forgets about all the other mechanisms which produce new genetic variations each generation.
How terrible it must be to have to live each day with such a faulty memory.
You are forgetting about indels and substitutions.
You should probably try to get back on topic. Perhaps you could find a genetic difference between bombardier beetles and other beetles of the same taxonomic family and explain to us why those differences could not be produced by the known mechanisms of evolution.
@colewd that’s 40,000 species. Better get to work.
What numbers are you using, and where did you get them?
Arts 2007 rebuttal of Axe.
Could you be more specific? I find no mention of keratin or bits in that.
Good old “If I wish hard enough then evolution never happened!” Bill.
The molecular evolution of feathers with direct evidence from fossils
Pan et al
PNAS, February 19, 2019 116 (8) 3018-3023Abstract: Dinosaur fossils possessing integumentary appendages of various morphologies, interpreted as feathers, have greatly enhanced our understanding of the evolutionary link between birds and dinosaurs, as well as the origins of feathers and avian flight. In extant birds, the unique expression and amino acid composition of proteins in mature feathers have been shown to determine their biomechanical properties, such as hardness, resilience, and plasticity. Here, we provide molecular and ultrastructural evidence that the pennaceous feathers of the Jurassic nonavian dinosaur Anchiornis were composed of both feather β-keratins and α-keratins. This is significant, because mature feathers in extant birds are dominated by β-keratins, particularly in the barbs and barbules forming the vane. We confirm here that feathers were modified at both molecular and morphological levels to obtain the biomechanical properties for flight during the dinosaur–bird transition, and we show that the patterns and timing of adaptive change at the molecular level can be directly addressed in exceptionally preserved fossils in deep time
Keratin is a protein other then the ones he is evaluating. A probability of finding a protein function of 10^10 means the protein contains around 30 bits of FI.
That’s not the probability, @colewd. The probability of finding such a functional protein is 1. So, if you are using probability to calculate FI, then FI=0.
You are committing the safe crackers fallacy
That is just obviously false. Didn’t you read the abstract? It dicusses different varieties of KERATINS.
I look forward to your rebuttal letter to PNAS telling them the recent published research on the molecular evolution of flight feathers is all wrong.
Any idea when you’ll have it ready?
