Politics megathread

Meanwhile, in the latest episode of “Let’s talk about anything but Epstein”, Barak Obama is accused of trying to lead a coup! (I heard that he was also behind the ANTIFA conspiracy to make MAGA people look bad on January 6.)

That and getting other countries to reimburse me for the tariff component of the imported goods I buy.

Meanwhile, sending the President’s former personal lawyer to interview Ghislaine Maxwell sounds completely appropriate to me. If anyone can get to the truth of what really happened, it has to be Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. (I heard that he used to represent a convicted felon and admitted serial sexual predator. So I would think that that would make him well-informed and uniquely qualified. And unbiased. But then, I never went to law school and your mileage may differ.)

Saturday Night Live is on vacation for the summer so if I see the headline, “Trump Pardons Ghislaine Maxwell”, I won’t necessarily assume it is a Weekend Update joke. (The Justice Department will discover video that proves that Maxwell participated in the January 6 riot at the Capitol so Trump will “have no choice” but to pardon her for all past and future crimes.)

My head hurts.

Trump, desperate to prevent Ghislaine Maxwell from exposing him, has sent his former personal lawyer and fixer, now Deputy Attorney Todd Blanche, to talk to Ghislaine in prison.

This is what will now happen. In return for a pardon (and probably lots of money upon release so she can go back to living cozily) Ghislaine will name a bunch of people Trump doesn’t like:

The full “Epstein files” will not be released.

So, who are Trump’s presently most hated political enemies he will pay Ghislaine to name?

Who’s your top 5 most likely all coincidentally opposed to Trump-politicians and businesspeople that will get thrown under the bus?

Biden, Obama, Clinton… who else? People that particularly irk Trump or have gone after him legally or politically that he would stand the most to get rid of, or be the most pleased by from getting back at?

I don’t know----but somehow he will find a way to add Rosie O’Donnell to the list.

Catching up on the news headlines today.

Even if covered by private funds, I think $200 million is a lot of money simply for a place to hold Trump’s balls.

[I had at least two Melania jokes as follow-up—but I resisted the temptation. I hope you are all proud of me.]

She is being pardoned, I am convinced of it. She’s already been moved to a lower security prison. She will clear Trump and name some political enemies or scapegoats of his, and then be pardoned as a personal favor in hopes the MAGA base will buy this.

I really have to wonder how many of them are going to fall for it. It seems to me quite a number of them thinks the whole thing with Trump and Epstein and the files not being released, stinks. Will they have the clarity and courage to see through what Trump is doing now trying to buy himself clear with a pardon-deal?

The corruption of the Trump administration has been so thorough that it is easy to overlook things that are right out in the open. Regardless of what happens with Maxwell, it remains the case that the resources of the DOJ, supposedly a non-political law enforcement agency that operates separately from the President, have been diverted to managing the political damage Trump will suffer from the Epstein case. And it seems beyond denial that Trump is directly orchestrating this. This is exactly the sort of “weaponization” that MAGA falsely accused Biden of perpetrating when Trump was being prosecuted.

Don’t you think that he and his advisers have now data that show that the benefit /risk ratio of these mRNA vaccines is unfavorable, at least for certain populations ?

And you think they are keeping this data secret from the overwhelming majority of scientific experts who have concluded these vaccines are safe and effective?

At last, a legitimate application for ivermectin.

No. What data would that be?

Washington Post headline: “Trump to take over D.C. police, deploy National Guard.”

“Police state” sure seems to fit. Troops patrolling the nation’s capital. (But not present for the worst of January 6.)

All of which is an attempted distraction from the Trump administration’s upcoming release of Ghislaine Maxwell from prison in return for her declaring Trump free of the Epstein stuff.

Is it working? Are the MAGA loons falling for it?

I will never get over the failure of western leadership that has been the Trump administration and the republican party during the Trump era.

The Orangutool had the balls to step on the guy already lying on the ground, but was practically kneeling and spreading his cheeks for for Putin:

THIS supreme failure of a man is the guy the MAGAloons were telling us was needed to project an image of american strength? At this stage I wouldn’t be surprised if he was cucking out Melania to the Russian ambassador to the US, if not to Putin himself.

But hey, it seems immigrants are finding ingenious ways to avoid deportation:

It’s hardly surprising – Putin is everything that Trump wants to be – the ultimate bully, and ultimately corrupt.

Zelensky on the other hand is everything that Trump has spent his whole life avoiding, since he ‘developed’ his bone spurs, and has repeatedly derided – somebody who would willingly put his life in danger for his country.

The only thing that would seem the least bit surprising is that anybody is still surprised.
