Politics megathread

I will be reporting anyone who does not respond to this glorious announcement with proper patriotic zeal for fatherly leader to prosperous future away from squalor.

The raid on John Bolton’s home crosses another red line on the path to totalitarianism.

Meanwhile, American conservatives are having conniptions over Cracker Barrel’s rebranding.

And we can say this while having no love for John Bolton simply because we actually respect the rule of law, unlike Epstein’s best friend.

Just saw the headline about the renaming of the Defense Department so that Pete Hegseth can be called "The Secretary of War.” (The news was first leaked on a signal chat message to Jeffrey Goldberg.)

Trump also announced that his White House Press Secretary will henceforth be addressed as “Reich Minister of Propaganda Karoline Leavitt.”

Trump also named Martha Stewart as the new Secretary of the Interiors so that she can be in charge of decorating the previously announced $200 million White House grandiose renovation—which will give Trump a very nice place to hold his balls.

I can no longer tell fact from fiction with this insane administration. No matter how absurd it just keeps coming up “plausibly true” when I try to apply some critical thought to it. The Reich minister scored lowest on plausibility, but was still entirely believable for the circus.

When I first heard the story on NPR about the “War Department”, I hadn’t yet put in my hearing aids—so I completely misunderstood the first word of the title. I thought it was an Epstein-Trump files revelation.

{That’s a true story. Honest.}

I see Russia is sending drones into Poland now. How dare they? Don’t they know Trump is president?

So is the new rule the President addresses the nation every time some mid-level celebrity gets shot?

I somehow missed Trump’s national address in June when he ordered flags at half-mast after the shootings of the lawmakers in Minnesota.

Only the sycophants.

The partisan baiting in that address was unprecedented and chilling. Meanwhile, nothing on his pal Putin testing NATO.

A certain commentator I like suggests we should all be familiar with Horst Wessel.

I understand the tendency to speak well of the dead. But CNN’s Brian Stelter sounds like he’s talking about a different person entirely:

I have not forgotten that Kirk told his audience after the Paul Pelosi stabbing that if someone wanted to be a “hero”, they could pay the attacker’s bail and get him out of jail.

This hapless fellow claims to be a Christian(link leads to a downloadable .mp4 file): Just your regular down to Earth honest to God Trump voter.

Yup. If Trump decides to call for his followers to start murdering “leftists”, thousands of them will do just that.

The Democratic Party will respond by saying he’s just trying to distract from Epstein and price of groceries. CNN will hold a round table to debate how it will affect the mid-terms.

Chillingly apposite reading.

I would caution that any negative replies to Giltil’s post may attract attention from the regime.

Charlie Kirk’s death does not make his politics a good thing.

I see no value in glorifying either.

I could make a 100-post thread just with stunning fascist-republican hypocricy. It’s quite literally mindblowing. While I once again do not condone vigilante justice, and do feel sorry for Charlie Kirk’s family, I won’t personally be shedding any tears over the death one of the foremost political grifters and regime-apologists of our time. He made a living lying for dollars.
