Question about Jewish Genetics/ancestry

Is there an easy to read resource on what classifies people as Jewish? I’ve done some googling but would like to share something that explains it well if it ever comes up in conversation.

It seems being Jewish is mostly looked at from a religion standpoint but there are genetic markers that seem to just point to geography and communities that stayed to themselves. This came up from an agnostic/atheist leaning friend asking me questions from the Whoopi Goldberg incident that happened recently. I just want to be able to speak more informed and use good language. Thanks!

The Wiki article seems accurate. It only discusses genetics a little bit, but it does delve into some of the complexity around this question.

Cool, thanks! I don’t always check the Wikipedia stuff since you never know what kind of info you could be getting but I’ll read that one
