Never true for the fruit. They’re bribes for seed dispersal. Vegetables, depends on what part of the plant you’re eating. Eating a carrot requires the death of the plant. Eating lettuce just removes some leaves from a still-living plant.
Yeah, eating them is kinda the whole point, from the plant’s point of view. This is grade school-level stuff, @gbrooks.
