Just one small nitpick with the video. At 4:05 in the video, Jon Perry states that in experiments designed to recapitulate early Earth environments they do produce amino acids, but also lots of junk alongside them. It really isn’t actually know that many of these (so-called) “side products” are junk. This seems to be largely based on the assumption that they’re not produced or used in life as we see it today, but that doesn’t mean it could not be important in some process that led to life.
