To make the fall of humanity story more palpable to YECs, I propose a special divine creation of a species of talking snakes that does not appear in the paper below. These talking snakes would be indigenous to the Middle East and have lived in the same time period as GAE. They would have special speech and hearing anatomical features that no other snake species ever had. They would speak the same language as GAE spoke. They would be unknown to science and no fossil remains could ever be discovered.
The common YEC interpretation is that the snake wasn’t a snake at all, just Satan in (perhaps) animal disguise. That does handily explain why the snake can talk. So none of that would be necessary. But I suppose you imagine you were being clever.
Even with Satan disguising himself as talking snake, there still are still major problem with fall of humanity dogma. A million years of human evolution across many interbreeding human species makes it impossible to pin a single event in a garden in the Middle East with the fall of humanity. Remember without the fall of humanity there is no need for a savior of humanity. Christianity crumbles.
I doubt that.
There are many Christians who take the Adam & Eve story to be fiction, yet who remain Christians.

I agree that much, perhaps all, of Christian and, for that matter, other theology makes no sense. So? Is this not way off any topic and irrelevant to GAE?
