I have too much respect for the expertise of Biblical scholars to presume to be able to do their job without even a smattering of training in the field. Not everyone feels entitled to contradict expert opinion without having a clue what they are talking about, you should be aware.

I have no dog in your argument with Valerie, but this statement stood out to me. If you claim that you’re always willing to defer to expert opinion, then what is this?

Arguing from the English Translation?
