I practiced law in NJ for a number of years – the majority of my practice was in PA, but I was licensed in NJ also. Did a bit of work in Camden County, but also in the US District Court up in Newark, where my principal case (the one I was hired specifically to work on!) was heard by one Maryanne Trump Barry, USDJ. Her brother was a joke even then, but a funnier one than now; she was actually quite an excellent judge.
But my travels rarely took me to the middle of the state. It was either right across the river, or up in Newark, but seldom anywhere between. I recall visiting an inmate at the state prison in Camden (now closed, I think), and being a bit alarmed at being left alone in a room with a man who was serving time for having broken my client’s neck…
