Young Earth Evolution vs. Young Earth Creationism

Show me where Ken Ham has mentioned my name please?

Since it seems I am one of the people who most frequently comments here, I would expect they would have mentioned my name. Where have they done so? Thanks.

I never said he mentioned your name. I specifically said which names were mentioned and gave references. It should be clear what I meant.

Two things I’ve been thinking about:

  1. The claim has been made here that Wise/Wood/etc. are the only YECs who are honest about the evidence for evolution. I have seen several old blog posts by Todd Wood, and at least one youtube video lecture where he says that evolution is “not a theory in crisis,” and that there’s lots of evidence for it. I’ve heard him give a rundown of his own experience in a class at some university about the evidence for evolution and how he’s impressed by it. But what I have not seen is any presentation by him or Wise actually engaging with the evidence itself and explaining why they think it is good. All I’ve seen are broad, general statements. Can anyone show me freely available examples of this? I suspect I simply disagree with Wood on the merits based on what he has said publicly, but I have not seen the merits as he sees it in any detailed manner.

  2. The claim was also made in this thread that Wise/Wood/etc. are the only YECs who will argue or attack other YECs, which is laughable. YEC is famously fragmented. Some of those disputes are non-scientific, but there are many scientific disputes within YEC, as I’m sure many here absolutely know and revel in from time to time. In fact I seem to recall a trend a few years ago about using YEC statements to disprove YEC by pitting different YEC arguments against each other. This is inconsistent with claiming that YECs are some sort of monolith who refuse to criticize each other.

Right now there is a massive debate raging between YECs on how to view natural selection. On one side you have ICR under its new president Randy Guliuzza, the first non-Morris family president, saying that naturalselection is evil or something, and on the other you have virtually everybody else, most notably Jason Lisle, not only affirming that natural selection is a legitimate scientific concept, but even arguing that it is “biblical” and all but condemning Guliuzza for his views on it.

You have serious legitimate differences of opinion between Robert Carter and Nathaniel Jeanson about phylogenetics, which they have openly criticized each other about while also engaging in constructive, behind-the-scenes conversation and criticism. I know this disagreement has been discussed on Peaceful Science because this forum is where I first heard about it.

CMI maintains an extensive list of “arguments creationists should not use,” which Wood also discusses extensively.

In short, it is laughable to claim that YECs other than Wise/Wood/etc. don’t criticize other YECs and don’t engage with evolutionary ideas and literature.
