Archaeology: The biblical kingdom of Edom

"The biblical kingdom of Edom has always been a significant puzzle for biblical archaeology. Although evidence is supplied in the Bible, the archaeological record has always had trouble interpreting the text, which said that it existed as a kingdom long before the kings of Israel.

But research has uncovered the untold story of a thriving and wealthy society in the Arava Desert – in parts of Israel and Jordan – that existed during the 12th-11th centuries BCE."

The bible should first be accepted as accurate. Yes it stressed EDOM was a nation before israel and had Kings before Israel. Will these details persuade them the bible is gods word? probably not.
Once again they use the illegal term BCE. iTS BC. its arrogant to overrule the historic weights and measures of our nations.

I’m not sure I agree with that. I became a Christian through a spiritual experience while reading the Bible as a hostile critic. I certainly didn’t believe it was accurate.

If by your comment you mean “why should people care what the books of the Bible say about Jesus until they have tested the books of the Bible and found them to be trustworthy” then you have a point, and I believe questions about their trustworthiness should be answered with the best data available. But then I believe questions on any subject should be answered with the best data available.

I agree, probably not. But that was not my intention. I don’t believe it is my job to persuade anyone of anything. The way I see it if God exists he can persuade others the same way he persuaded me. If he cannot persuade others then perhaps my beliefs are mistaken.

What I can do is share the best data I have so others can make informed choices. And appreciate others sharing data with me.

But I have as little desire to ram my beliefs down other’s throats as I have desire to have other’s beliefs rammed down mine.
