A slightly cheaper alternative (if you’re not a grad student or postdoc) to registering for the conference might be to read Athena Aktipis’ new book The Cheating Cell: How Evolution Helps Us Understand and Treat Cancer. I saw it recommended on twitter, and am currently reading it. I’m not very far in yet, but I’ve enjoyed it so far.
