I was insinuating nothing. I was saying explicitly that the universe is ancient, exactly as the heavens themselves declare. Romans 1 does not refer to Genesis 1 when it holds unbelievers responsible for that knowledge, does it.
Aka the exact evolution described by mainstream science of man from apes.

Are you 12 years old? Have you ever read anything by me or Joshua stating such things?[/quote]
I may be 12, but even a 12 yr old is seeing the smoke and mirrors
Then you have been inadequately trained about theology. This passage about the heavens was not intended to communicate anything to its listeners about the ancient nature of the universe. The original audience would never be inclined to summarize a meaning of this passage while doing calculations on the distance of stars and the speed of light etc. Your interpretation sounds very similar to the massive theological errors of some prominent old earth guys i know about whom i will not name.
This passage is simply meant to describe that the beauty and majesty of the heavens- even as one may not understand what exactly are the nature of those stars and galaxies- are a reflection of a great God. Period. Dont read anymore into it.
Sorry brother to be quick and blunt but im making a late dinner and need to go
Yes, but mainstream science does not say God guided that version of Evolution.
Apparently you see no difference ?
…and science.
If anyone didn’t read @dalecutler’s posting above, you really should take a moment and read it.
It sounds absolutely modern … but it is something Augustine said as a warning to Christians who speak out of ignorance about religion and science…
Check out number 3: Six Reasons Young Christians Leave Church, from Barna, a well-known and respected Christian research and polling organization.
@Greg
This is pertinent to the antiquity of the universe and our place in it (written by a Christian):
It is not about ‘radiometric dating’.
I wouldnt be surprised in these last days where there is a barage of worldliness pumped into peoples minds in America that the offensiveness of the cross causes many to leave the churches which people are raised within. Those two words a conjunction and a noun give me hope however: “But God” Even amidst this, God is still doing a mighty work! Like ive said, the church i attend is so healthy and even growing as God allows it so. Preaching Christ as cornerstone and uplifting the cross for salvation.
Since the cross of calvary is indeed so offensive to the pride of man, maybe barna should conclude that our preaching should be more chatter about the latest movies (which by the way, the avengers series blasphemes God’s name in many of its intentions) and some good recipes for success throwing in 7 habits for the wealthy healthy you.
You fit Augustine’s piece perfectly, as does YECism in general.
Did this website take down the statement about affirming “mainstream science?”
Size is not a reliable measure of a church’s health nor its members’ spiritual maturity, and certainly not of its scientific understanding.
Healthy in the sense of spiritual health. When the preaching is uplifting Gods name, the gospel and being true to the Word of God from Genesis to Rev and people are growing in Christ, that is a healthy church. When the pastors are not worldly, the church budget every year is in the black without fundraising campaigns, thats a healthy church. When sin is a sin and we are called to fight it for Gods glory and folks are pouring into the doors, thats a healthy church. Our church unabashidly embraces a Biblical young earth creationist model without calling old earth Christians non christians.
I dont know all of the answers. It sure appears to me that God pictures a young earth in Scripture and there is some science that questions an ancient earth too. I understand that some scientists really cannot get past the evolution old earth stuff that they were taught. This should never mean that we water down Scripture to accomodate them either. Perhaps they just leave it as a big mystery and trust Christ then grow in maturity and obedience as guided by Scripture and see where God takes them. It has been a great 30 plus yr journey for me so far.
YECism presumes that its translation of “yom” in Genesis 1 is infallible.
That is an insinuated accusation, and a false one, pharisaical even! Be careful of presuming that you understand other Christians’ hearts and motivations. You are just singing YECism’s political song. Just because there is a crowd of you is neither an indication of your spiritual purity nor maturity.
And you are speaking to a septuagenarian.
I am starting to take offense to the semantic “yecism” please leave this out. We are talking about prophecy by one of Gods chief prophets, Moses which is describing God Himself. We are not having a semantics contest. That is what a gnostic might do. We are disgussing the very words from God Himself written down for us to read today about Him. I dont take that lightly. God is loving and He will judge the errant words we speak on His behalf. I believe in a young earth not because swamidass put the brand “yec” by my name but because i revere God at His Word which seems plainly spoken and understood in early Genesis. Gonna run for the eveming Dale. Nice chat
Look at your messages.
Maybe tomorrow i will read. I only see one private message. Blessings
Yep, we agree there!
…in Hebrew, and only translated, fallibly, into English.
…in Hebrew. You are also insinuating that I do not revere his word, which is, again, a false accusation. You need to be more careful with that – you diminish your reward.
