My excuse is the Polio vaccine when I was a kid. that booster shot. I remember getting it one day and the next not being able to properly function and next thing I know it I was put in a special class for about 2 weeks with a special ed teacher till I recovered my English skills. To this day sort of like Joe biden in some ways, oh my, words and names escape me and not just a little. Its an actual disability. not entirely defined but when I was in college some of the courses were at the university in Winnipeg. And some how I think it might have been my Psychology or Philosophy teacher had a student that was studying language disability and they did testing and a paper etc. I guess as a project. Some how in an English course I was able to get in the 90’s long story but i papers I couldn’t find the words I wanted to use and they tried to figure it out. They never really did. Everything was fine but there was this glitch. I blame it on the Polio vaccine. And I know that generally if mankind had the fog removed and their disability more generally the insight we would have would be tremendous. I feel like it has forced me to work around it. Now with this sinus/dizziness its like I have a second fog.

So how did you get nerve damage in your hand. Did you drop something on your arm/hand or get it caught in the car door?
I read one too many Robert Byers posts and punched my office wall in frustration—right where the drywall was nailed to a double-stud.
LoL. there is a significant difference when you hit right where the stud is. Thats funny, cause I know that feeling. LoL.
There are no truths in any literal, historical or biographical reading of the Bible. When you read the texts like that you completely miss the point(s). Who convinced you that these obviously fictional stories are not fictional but rather historical and how did they do that? Or did you just jump on the bandwagon because the people you knew were on it? Christians will say you can’t understand the Bible if you don’t have the Holy Spirit. So, if we first believe in magical spirits then we can believe the rest of the magic in the Bible. It’s a ridiculous argument and circular enough to make a person dizzy. You just did this yourself. If I first believe in God, well then, I can believe in God and your crazy interpretation of the Bible. I feel sorry for people who can’t see how silly that is.
The people using this methodology you’re talking about are almost always Christians with a religious agenda. I learned early on these people cannot ever be trusted. How many times have they found Noah’s Ark, some fake ossuary, a bogus inscription like the Tel Dan fake, the Fraud of Turin, chariot wheels in the sea, the town of Nazareth…? When non-Christian scholars look into these “discoveries” and come to different conclusions, the apologetics community launches an attack on them, mostly ad hominem because they can’t refute these different findings. Ever.
Your hypothesis that the Bible stories are historical fails absolutely. It explains nothing. By that I mean why can’t we find any of the major figures in the Bible even mentioned in the historical record let alone written about extensively as they surely would have been had any of them actually existed? Why can’t we find a shred of evidence for any of the major events in the Bible or even mentioned in passing by historians? These genocidal wars and battles mentioned in the Bible would have left a mark. However, there’s no trace of any of them ever happening.
My theory on the Bible explains all of these things and very clearly too. These conflicts are metaphors for the intellectual, philosophical, astrological, theological and ideological disagreements the Hebrews had with their neighboring people groups. The narratives in the Bible are based on astronomy as are the narratives in Homer. And the Bible has many stories that parallel those in Homer. I have dozens of examples I could show you, there are a few on my Facebook page. But like creationists when you show them evidence for evolution, Christians will simply wave all of them off and say that it’s just not good enough. So, the hypothesis or theory that has the greatest explanatory power is the preferred one, so my theory has to be preferred over yours. At least by reasonable people of which there are very few among Bible distorting Christians. Humans rarely learn from history but rather from mythology and this is why the Bible stories were written the way they were. If you lack the sophistication that even the first readers and hearers of the biblical and Homeric narratives had, well that’s on you.
You did not answer my question. What got you to that exact scripture about the raising of the dead after Jesus rose from the dead. That exact thing. I don’t agree with you as to who wrote the bible and when or its validity generally you are wrong.
I want to know about YOU, what did you see read or reference to get to pointing out that scripture.
This question.
In college we diagrammed the chiastic structure of Matthew’s Gospel as well as all the different narratives in it. Same thing we did with the rest of the New Testament. There are examples of my work on my Facebook page, like my diagram of the birth narrative. We also practiced exegesis in intermediate and advanced Koine Greek classes. You have no clue what I’m talking about do you? Something no one else on this site has ever done, though they have claimed otherwise. Unlike others on this site, I show my work I don’t just pretend I’ve done it.
No, you don’t. There are not different ways of knowing. There’s knowing and not knowing and those are the only two choices. And you clearly do not know.
like I said earlier, Its all Greek to me. I used to carry around a literal translation of Greek to English, but its a waste of time. Not unless there is a controversial scripture.
…
I also read the bible through to find verses that conflicted with the Jehovah witnesses version of the bible and their theology and I would highlight those verses in the JW bible. So without any effort I could find all the verses that they forgot to alter to suit their theology. That was 30 years ago. I don’t know where that JW bible has gone. Well, actually I do. I was being abused by a guy physically that I had worked for and had a trailer on his site to build him a 600 sq ft addition and I was going through the divorce and stuff also so I just dumped everything. I left all my college books etc. my furniture abandoning it all just to save myself.
But anyways, Even the JW bible for the most part was 90% accurately translated if not more. They intentionally changed a few verses or paraphrased a few but you can count on the King James and the NIV to give you enough accuracy that you don’t need to know Greek. Some people smarter than me did all that work and when I had the head to do it, I looked over the work and found it fantastic. You wont sway me with a quibble over a verse. That you don’t even think exists.
None of those words refer to species. Maybe you should actually check out taxonomy before claiming that it is a hoax?
I’m not trying to sway you. I am demonstrating to others just how wrong it is to try to the understand the Bible the way you are. The other people here are demonstrating to others just how arrogant and dumb it is to deny science, especially someone like you who is so completely clueless about it.
What? What a Slur. You are out to lunch on the whole thing. You would have to deny just about everything existence itself to have your view. Wow. You clearly don’t grasp how much you would have to undue. Forget the church split and the catholic church, the reformation all that, You would also have to undue the creation of the Koran, its statements. The schools Josephus, Titicus and Polycarp and Oregin and Turtellian and the dead sea scrolls. The Petros rock carved out things. The Temple mount. The artifacts, The whole Jewish race the Muslims The whole Istanbul etc… the witch trials, Pontius Pilot the pilot stone, Bible time Greek, the vatican, the tombs the walls, the artifacts.
…
The gaping hole in history would be so large that Europe would fall in and likely take England with it. And what would Henry the 8th do with his wives without his own church. Wow. Its so ridiculous I think I would have to load a truck for you to vaporize from my house alone.
…
Your deletion of History is absurdity.
call it what you want its found in the fossil record and you can find it in the ocean. Even microscopic things that I couldn’t pronounce let alone name.
I have always resented your constant resort to ad homonym arguments.
And further on that: I have also always resented phylogenetic “splitters” in paleoanthropology. Just one “add hominin” argument after another, those guys.
Thanks. I call all of those not species. If you really want to communicate, you need to use the agreed-upon definitions.
If you’re going to see if species are still around, you should look at the species level, not taxa several levels higher.
Which one? Just asking.
This is why no one takes you seriously anymore.
Sorry, No I wont use agreed upon definitions. I know what a turtle is. If you want to call it by another name to bad. Its still in the fossil record and its living today unchanged and there is no Turduckin or fishturdin to suggest any transitions. You use what ever language you like. The same bass in the fossil record or similar was living then and now with no evolution. Same Eel etc. etc. The whole idea falls apart when the same bacteria exists now or similar as it did then. No evolution is necessary. No pressure. Star fish are still happy. And they did it without government intervention or mandate.
I gave up on peoples opinion of me many many years ago. Personal attacks and bickering basically tells me the person is a negative person and trouble. So, I guess it is a type of bigotry I have. So your value is gone. still for the sake of polite discussion I give everyone a value in spite of their issues. So you don’t matter because of who you are in my eyes. You only matter cause I think you matter generally. So don’t try and get any self esteem from me. And I wont expect any from you.
The technical term for this in logic textbooks is add hominin ad infinitum ad nauseam ad absurdum.
(And in the Harry Potter books that phrase is the curse which Lord Voldemort put on Kent Hovind.)
