You seem to be equivocating YEC, OEC, and flood geology. OEC certainly existed before SDA and it isn’t associated with flood geology. Flood-geology associated YEC began in the 1800s and it was associated with SDA.

A very slight caveat on that. There was a movement in Britain, in the early 19th Century, known as ‘Scriptural Geologists’, composed mainly of conservative Anglican priests interested in geology, who opposed the developing Old Earth geology. However this movement appears to have been shortlived, and seems to have died out completely before Price visited Britain in the early 20th Century (as he found no like minds, only OECs), which would appear to indicate that it had no influence on the apparently independent emergence of YEC in the SDA.
I would emphatically disagree. Old Earth ‘scientific’ creationism outside SDA already existed before Morris. The main example I know of is Harry Rimmer (and his ‘Science Research Bureau, Incorporated’) who was a prominent creationist in the first half of the 20th Century. Additionally, the leadership of the ASA supported Progressive Creationism around the middle of the 20th Century, before throwing their weight behind Theistic Evolution.
Good to know. Thanks for the info.
