But just because you dismiss the very visible entanglement between the British Establishment and the Church of England as “the formal shell of an established Church”, does not mean that British Secular Humanists are required to see it that way. Are you telling me that Jewish students, Hindu students, etc. in Britain have to listen daily to Christian prayers? My understanding is that (some) religious minorities have what are termed Voluntary Controlled Schools (I know they exist for some Christian denominations, Muslims and Orthodox Jews, I don't know about Hindus), which are funded by the government but run by a charity or foundation. I was refering to schools under more direct control of the state.
