Of course it did. But now Biologos and you have separate agendas and mission. I wouldn’t feel like you have to be like them. You have your own path now.
I read it many year ago and re-read it yesterday, I wasn’t too impressed with it then and less so now. It was not one of those “high impact” papers that opens new avenues of inquiry. In fact it has a low impact score.
No, it isn’t. ID includes Creationism- Creationism is a subset of ID. But ID stands without the Bible whereas Creationism does not.
And ID isn’t science.
Leaving aside your opinions of the quality of the paper I shared yesterday, would you call it religion or science?
By your logic I could say a lot of science is religion because the scientists are athiests and often use their understanding of science to promote their world view… This is a baseless and prejudicial stand.
Atheism is not science either. It is not that complex @Ashwin_s. Try answering my thread. I’m curious who you are: Ashwin's Interesting Story
US courts have ruled that ID is creationism which is religion. ID is not science. That is not baseless nor prejudical. Science is not a worldview. And science is not atheistic. Science is neutral on whether God exist or not.
So the courts can decide which papers are scientific and which are religious…
Why peer review then? Why not send all scientific papers to courts?
The US courts have decided that the group that promoted Intelligent Design as a way to teach Creationism in a US public school system was a religion and not science, therefore it was banned as religion not science. Today, teaching ID in any public school as science is banned and would be an unconstitutional promotion of religion in the public school system that must be neutral on religion.
Regarding publication of scientific papers, it is entirely up to the peer review process and the editor of journal on what to publish and what to reject. I am aware of no publication of ID in a reparable scientific journal.
That’s a self fulfilling prophecy in my opinion… anyway, let’s see how things pan out in the future… I am the patient kind.
This has been playing out in this country for more than a decade. ID is regarded in this country as an attempt to make creationism not religion but science. It has failed miserably at that. ID is religion not science. Kinda of case closed.
You are correct. Atheism is a philosophy and not a science.
Atheism is not even a philosophy, it is merely an opinion.
It has all of the hallmarks of science. Unlike blind watchmaker evolution ID makes testable claims. You cannot say how to test the claim that BWE produced ATP synthase
ID has none of the hallmarks of science. No evidence and most importantly no results that has done any good for humanity.
That’s a very romantic view of science… it’s not just supposed to be neutral on theology. It’s also neutral on morality… for example the gun, which is a product of science and technology is neither evil nor good… you need moral agency to get things like good and evil.
Clearly you don’t anything about ID nor science. ID’s concepts are used in genetic algorithms which use telic processes to solve complicated problems. So clearly ID has done some good for humanity. Blind watchmaker evolution is a joke and hasn’t done anything for humanity. Its claims can’t even be tested.
I have a big money, capitalistic view of science. Take Ebola virus, as soon as the treat to the United States was deemed real to US Government, billions of dollars rushed into Ebola vaccine research. Likewise capital worldwide moved around getting the money to those labs ready to make an impact. The experts (non-government capitialists) decided on where to put the money in order to make the most money. The research money did speed up the research enormously and low and behold a vaccine. Crisis averted, human lives saved. Big Science at its best.
Bull. ID is not science. ID is creationism which is religion. Real Science has done wonders for humanity. Medical science relies on an understanding of evolutionary biology to advance. Your life expectancy and your health relies on that science every day.
Actually that’s empirical studies with things like the electron microscope… evolutions contribution to advanced to medicine is trivial. The real hero is the microscope, centrifuge and similar tools gifted by technology…
