The biotech industry wants to set its own rules on a disturbing new practice. This time, we can’t trust them to act responsibly.
I think a majority of scientists would act in an ethical manner if the ethical rules are well grounded. Of course there will always be some willing to break those rules, and we don’t yet know what new problems may arise. Trust but verify, is usually a good policy.
