Adam didnt speak English
Now you’re just being silly. Whatever language he spoke (call it “Adamish”), he would presumably speak it correctly, so a novel in English that wanted to convey the sense of his speech should put that speech into correct English. You made a common grammatical error, one an editor would have caught; no big deal. Just don’t try to justify it with spurious arguments.
