A Vision: If Adam Had Not Sinned

Have you not ever imagined the obvious? What if Adam had not rebelled and mankind prospered and ascended in knowledge? What kind of incredible advancements would we have made as a human race? Doubtless, we would be in other star systems by now and populating those.

We’d have invented faster-than-light travel and populated galaxies 90 billion parsecs away by now?

“Doubtless”.

Would we be in other galaxies? How would we populate any of them before Jesus returns and the world ends?

What? You are not thinking. God was just getting started with the human race. The knowledge he personally would have imparted to select individuals would blow our minds. Travel would have been easy. And why would Jesus “return”? He would be known and seen often by select individuals. He would be a regular visitor. And the Bible? It wouldn’t look anything like it does today. It may very well have been a collection of divine wisdom and knowledge - even a science textbook of sorts.

Well, clearly you are, in the sense that you are inventing vast and complex scenarios out of your head, or some part of your body at least. And all this amazing plan was ruined by a trivial act of one person, right after the start of the plan. That’s surely a bit of encompentence on the part of the planner to leave it open to complete failure at such an early stage.

Would you agree that, post-fall, almost all of the vast universe is useless?

The omniscient omnipotent God created a species with Grand Plans In Mind, and an entire universe to explore, knowing we’d fail to do so? Your capacity for fantastical assertions with zero basis in the scripture you claim to worship is truly remarkable.

You know God is going to enact a do-over, don’t you? We get another chance at this thing. Have you not heard?

You are going to miss the best part of the discussion. I could tell you some very important things and what the first mess-up actually brought about.

This is surreal.

Invention of religious fanfiction, as told with total conviction from the perspective of the priveleged few, has a long and storied tradition. Literally.

No, I wasn’t aware. What exactly are you referring to? And just who gets that chance? Is it more than one person, this time?

Have you ever heard a Christian say, “What Satan meant for evil, God has turned around for good”?

The narrative that Satan relates often does contain a kernel of truth, and that is what makes it so deceptive. When he told Eve that she and Adam would be like gods, knowing good and evil, he was actually correct - but of course, that knowledge came with a huge price tag. And the rest is history.

But the plan God devised to remedy a bad situation brought about the most wonderful things. If an individual simply made the choice to follow through with God’s plan and see it through to the end, that individual would find reward beyond imagination.

You see, had Adam not sinned we might very well have been an enormous population of naive Innocents. But since Adam did rebel and sin, God brought about the pathway for us to become like him. Sons and daughters. Little gods if I may be so bold. We will possess full knowledge of good and evil. Yet evil will be eliminated, only righteousness will exist. We will be completely remade in the Regeneration.

But if you did not know, everything in the cosmos will be remade. The earth. The heavens. No more sea. A shining city half the size of the United States will give continuous light to every nation on the planet. There will populations, kings. We will rule. We will go in and come out as we please. Our knowledge will be off the scale. Our ability to move and function and travel will likely be limitless.

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.”

The last book of the Bible describes this wonderful do-over and the expansive extent to which it will occur. What is so hard to grasp is how easy it is to be included in the event. Can it really be as easy as kneeling and taking a drink of water? Amazingly, the answer is Yes, it can.

“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.”

God also creates just to enjoy his creation - even the parts we don’t see. He plays with the Leviathan. Same with the stars and galaxies we don’t see.

There go the ships,
and Leviathan, which you formed to play in it. [formed to play with]

27 These all look to you,
to give them their food in due season.
28 When you give it to them, they gather it up;
when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.
29 When you hide your face, they are dismayed;
when you take away their breath, they die
and return to their dust.
30 When you send forth your Spirit, they are created,
and you renew the face of the ground.

Most of us already know that the laws of physics would not allow us to have reached other star systems in the time our species has existed.

That’s especially the case if our species had only existed for 6000 years.

So accepting your scenario depends on knowledge being removed from our mind. Not being imparted.

Isn’t that great? You’ll finally accept evolution and know the correct age of the earth! I bet you can hardly wait.

…unless prelapsarian brains managed to find the wormhole/loophole/whatever for FTL travel!

But yes, our closest galaxy is on the order of 2 million lightyears away, and all the rest are further than that…
